Summer 2016 DESERT BOTANICAL GARDEN

The marketing intern will work with the marketing department at Desert Botanical Garden as a brand journalist to curate stories of the Garden – research, conservation, exhibition, education and events – through multi-media packages. Summer 2016 Passport Health Digital Communications Internship-Scottsdale- PAID
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to support our digital communications work. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person to gainwork experience in a busy and dynamic communications department in a well-respected healthcare company.
You will help write, edit and produce content for Passport Health’s website and
media channels. You will also help monitor and evaluate the company’s digital communications and assist with tasks to support our business development team.
The ideal candidate is organized, enthusiastic and has a demonstrated interest in digital communications. You will need to use a number of different software packages as part of this job – to, for example, update the Passport Health website and do basic photo editing – so you must be familiar with industry standard platforms, willing to work with new technologies and able to learn new skills quickly.

Summer 2016- Gilbert-based FloodStream Internship
Assisting in production of professional soccer matches and other broadcast / webcast video content. Interns will assist with load-in, setup, strike and load-out of broadcast equipment and cables. During broadcasts, interns will shadow professional crew, and learn operation of equipment that may include cameras, switchers, instant replay systems, audio mixers and hardware, recorders and more. During sports productions, interns may be charged with spotting and/or assisting director, producer and graphics / replay operators.

Summer or Fall 2016 -Release the Fear Marketing Internship
At Release the Fear Marketing intern(s) will not be getting coffee or filing documents (unless they want coffee or need to file their own documents). Our intern will be elbow deep in planning and execution, and gaining valuable, measurable, relatable, real world experience.
Working directly with the head of Marketing, they will have the opportunity to be integral in building the elements of a campaign from the ground up, beginning with brand development, strategy, logo design, key messaging, collateral design, and copywriting. Next will be identifying market and marketing channels and development of targeted campaigns by channel, key promotions designed to reach target markets effectively and persuasively. Building media relationships, developing and executing media buys, and using their creative savvy to leverage cross promotional media promotions with smart partners.
They will work in tandem with several departments like sales and PR/social media to ensure each has the elements and collateral they need to be successful, while maintaining brand consistency.
PR/Social Media Intern
The PR/Social media interns will have a solid understanding of PR principals, how to write effective press releases, who to send them to, how to follow up, and how to build successful relationships with the media, key editors, writers, bloggers, and community influencers, with the goal of heightening our organization’s visibility and voice in the community. You know how to leverage our strengths to land our unfair share of positive unpaid media exposure!
The interns will also have a solid working knowledge of the various platforms, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, IG, Snapchat and Periscope. Proficient photography skills and owning a DSLR camera, and a reliable means of transportation is a must for this position.
The Digital Publishing intern will work within the PHOENIX magazine office 2x a week and help with video editing, production of online editions and other digital products. This will require knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, a high comfort level for using online technologies (we will teach how to use these programs) and a fine attention to detail.

Cronkite-Zocalo Fellowship in Santa Monica- Paid
The Cronkite School is accepting applications for student fellowships in sustainability journalism with Zócalo Public Square at ASU’s new Santa Monica., Calif., bureau.
The fellowship will be offered in the fall 2016 semester with students working out of the new Cronkite School bureau in Santa Monica. Fellows will work up to 40 hours a week for $10 an hour, producing content for the Zócalo website and its media partners, and assisting with Zocalo’s public events. Students also may apply to receive Cronkite internship credit for the fellowship. Students will be responsible for arranging their own housing. The Cronkite School will cover the cost of travel to and from Santa Monica.
Zócalo Public Square, a project of the Center for Social Cohesion at Arizona State University, is a not-for-profit Ideas Exchange that seeks to engage a new, young and diverse generation in the public square through a blend of live events and humanities journalism. It partners with educational, cultural and philanthropic institutions to present free, non-partisan public events and conferences in cities across the U.S. and beyond and to publish original daily journalism that is distributed to more than 100 media outlets nationwide.
Fellows may be graduate or undergraduate Cronkite students with an interest in sustainability, energy, the environment and related fields. Duties include generating story ideas, identifying and working with Zocalo contributors (who include journalists, scholars and non-writers), writing and editing articles for the website, working with media syndicate partners, building audiences for journalism and events through social and other media, and assisting with the planning and execution of public discussions and lectures on current affairs topics. Fellows will work with a small staff of writers and editors who produce new content daily for the website and its media partners and who solicit contributions from diverse people whose voices would otherwise go unheard. Strong editing skills are a must as are curiosity and energy. The successful applicant will be able to generate story ideas off the news that provide a different perspective on current topics and write and edit for voice. Some evening work is required. Fellows may have the opportunity to travel to Zócalo events in California and around the country. A car is not required but is suggested.
