Media Sales Institute at The Cronkite School
The Media Sales Institute is an intensive 10-day “boot camp” (June 5-16) where students are immersed in learning electronic media advertising sales and sales techniques. The curriculum is designed to provide an entry into media sales for talented students of diverse backgrounds.

The Media Sales Institute trains young professionals in radio, television, cable, digital and Internet sales. The intensive, 10-day program is for graduating seniors and recent college grads only.

At the end of the course, participants are divided into groups of three. Each group forms a fictitious multi-media company comprised of radio, television and cable properties. To reflect media sales in today’s marketplace, each medium presented must have a digital component. While the groups will work in teams to develop the company name and identity, each individual will be responsible for developing and giving a sales presentation to a group of media executives seeking candidates interested in positions in media sales. A career fair is held at the end of the course where candidates engage in one-on-one interviews with media company executives. More than 75 percent of the participants are hired by media companies two weeks to one month after their completion of the program.
