Strategic Media and Political Communication in China
This two week, three-credit summer program to Beijing and Shanghai provides students an invaluable opportunity to examine journalism practices and political communication in China. This study abroad program includes tours of some of China’s largest and most successful media organizations,including Reference News, country’s largest newspaper;
Xinhua News Agency, the official government news agency; Global Times, a leading successful market oriented newspaper; BlueFocus, the largest public relations agency in China; and the State Council Information Office, the country’s media governing body.
Students will participate in joint lectures, seminars and group discussions with Chinese journalism students at two of the country’s elite programs — the Journalism School at Tsinghua University in Beijing and School of Journalism at Fudan University in Shanghai.
In Shanghai, students will visit China’s second tallest TV tower Oriental Pearl Tower; the PR headquarters of Hill+Knowlton Strategies; and China’s largest news magazine Oriental Outlook Weekly. There also will be visits to cultural attractions such as the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.

Arizona Diamondbacks Game Operations Interns assist in the execution of game-day promotions and enhancing the D-backs fan experience. The position requires interns to work in a fast-paced environment and able to make quick decisions. Interns will assist with booking of National Anthems, Color Guards, Ceremonial First Pitches, working with mascots and leading the promo team. Game Ops interns may also be tasked with organizing appearances at Community and Corporate functions including: schools, hospitals, local news broadcasts, and viewing parties.

Spring/Summer 2015 Internship SOCIAL AND DIGITAL MEDIA INTERN
The Social and Digital Media Intern will play an active role in the development of KGPR’s online community and those of its clients. The intern will maintain KGPR and client presence on various social media platforms and help create and publish content that is relevant to our customer base. He/she will regularly analyze and report on the activity on social media networks as well as the KGPR and client websites.

He/she will also assist in maintaining KGPR and its client archive of digital images, videos, and other content. The intern will learn how to reach communities, and promote events or programs through the internet and gain experience in social media platforms and the tools used to assess their performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Social Media
•Creates and/or updates Facebook, Twitter, and all KGPR and client social media accounts.
•Creates and manages social media editorial calendars for KGPR and its clients.
•Develops social media strategy to engage KGPR clients across all social channels.
•Responds to posts or comments to bring value to user’s interactions with KGPR and its clients.
•Monitors online review sites including Google+, Yelp, Yahoo, Bing and others supporting client online reputation management.
•Posts updates, news and announcements in a timely manner using appropriate content and content management system.
•Performs research to find articles, stories, resources, or other content that is relevant to our client base and posts it to relevant social media pages in a manner that invites conversation and interaction.
•Updates social media accounts with current and relevant photos, video, or other content from KGPR and client activities and events.
•Grows KGPR and its client’s online social networks by increasing fan-­‐base and interactions.
•Maintains current information in Google+ and LinkedIn accounts and other sites.
•Completes other social media projects as assigned.

Digital Media
•Takes pictures and videos of events to be developed into content for the KGPR website, Facebook and Twitter pages.
•Uploads KGPR photos and videos to the appropriate server or DropBox account.
•Organizes and archives digital images and videos.
•Completes other digital media projects as assigned.

Research
•Regularly observes the online activity of model organizations researches and reports on “social media best practices”.
•Completes other research projects as assigned.

Analytics and Reporting
•Uses Google Analytics to assess trends and activity on the KGPR and client website.
•Uses Insights to assess trends and activity on the KGPR and client social media pages.
•Uses Twitter and Facebook Analytics to assess trends and activity on the KGPR and client Twitter pages.
•Reviews data on the performance of social media platforms and adjusts plans or strategies to optimize reach.

REQUIREMENTS
•Creative self-­‐starter who is comfortable with both taking initiative and working in collaboration.
•Detail oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Experience with Microsoft applications, basic photo-­‐editing and video-­‐editing software, and internet browsers. Experience with Photoshop and InDesign a plus.
•Familiarity and facility with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn.
•Available to work 15 hours per week.

ELIGIBILITY
This is a part-­‐time internship and we require that you bring your own computer to complete internship projects and tasks.

Candidates should maintain a positive attitude under pressure, exhibit a strong work ethic, and enjoy working with a wide range of personalities. Most importantly, the candidate should be flexible and willing to take on multiple tasks in a start-­‐up environment. This internship will benefit someone who is interested in marketing, public relations, public affairs, political science, government, or community relations.

Undergraduate students enrolled during the 2015-2016 school year are eligible to participate. To enter, create and submit a 30-second television or radio PSA that highlights the importance of free speech and creatively addresses, “What does freedom of speech mean to me?”

R&R Partners Event on March 12- PAID
R&R Partners, a national ad agency with an office in downtown PHX, is hosting an event on Thursday, 3/12, and is looking for 4 students to help their events coordinator execute the event. This is a great opportunity to personally meet the agency executives who hire their PR/communications interns and make a first impression. Event staffers need to be available to work on Thursday, 3/12, from 4 to 9:30 p.m. Pay is $50 for the night, plus food and drink.

During the event, looking for students to help out in a variety of ways—really whatever comes up that we need extra manpower! Tasks may range from directing people from the valet line where they can find the party entrance, to handing out self-guided tour maps to helping execute the sign unveiling part of the event and also helping ensure all our vendors have the supplies they need and that the space is kept looking great during the entire event.
