INTERNSHIPS

Fall 2014- Make A Wish Marketing/Public Relations Intern
This position supports the public relations, marketing and promotional activities at Make-A-Wish Arizona. Work commensurate with entry-level public relations and marketing position. Strong writing and grammar skills are essential. Media and social media experience valued.

Responsibilities:
-Writing news releases and media alerts, collecting wish stories from Arizona wish kids and families.
-Maintain communication with all company departments to identify story ideas and opportunities.
-Supporting media events, such wish reveals, Walk for Wishes, radio and newspaper interviews
-Crafting and posting updates on social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, when applicable.
-Developing and updating web site copy.
-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
-Junior or Senior Communications, Journalism and/or Public Relations major currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program.
-Requires excellent communication, writing, research and presentation skills.
-Strong project management and customer service skills.
-Ability to work independently.

City of Phoenix Public Information Office
The City of Phoenix is offering an unpaid internship with the public information officer for the Phoenix City Council. This is an opportunity to work in a fast paced environment and work around elected officials and their staff. We can arrange job responsibilities depending on interns area of study. Interns will help to produce councilmembers “On The Issues” television shows at Phoenix 11. Interns also may arrange appearances by show guests, help edit and draft show scripts, oversee and set up video shoots, assist with media outreach and drafting and sending out news releases, “My Turn” columns and website content. Fall 2014- Allison + Partners Paid Internship
Requirements/Skills:
Public relations interns will be actively enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a university public relations, marketing, or other related program. The individual must demonstrate the ability to undertake basic public relations writing assignments, adapt to a fast-paced work environment, possess an understanding of basic media relations skills, interact professionally with clients, and exercise good judgment. A working knowledge of computers, as well as word processing and database management software is necessary. Interns will be mentored by the entire Allison+Partners team including senior executives. Interns will work between 20-25 hours a week. Prior relevant experience is required. Compensation is $10 per hour.

Responsibilities:
We are seeking a paid intern to work with us on a wide variety of client projects. These include, but are not limited to:

•Draft basic public relations materials including news releases, media alerts, fact sheets, client meeting summaries, status reports and other materials as directed.
•Assist with media outreach, including pitching and follow-ups.
•Attend and participate in client meetings, media training sessions, presentations, and brainstorming sessions as directed.
•Attend media live-shots, in-studios and events as needed.
•Assist with the development and updating of media lists and other databases, including client, marketing, prospect and administrative databases.
•Complete timesheets daily, administrative duties and activities as assigned in a timely fashion.
•Assist firm staff with other client, business development and firm management projects as assigned.

What to Expect:
You won’t spend your whole day stapling and making copies. You won’t be expected to do ridiculous Starbucks runs for everyone in the office. And you definitely won’t be forced to wear a costume and deliver client product to news stations at 3 a.m.

You will be doing important client work. You will be a valued team member whose input is appreciated. You will be interacting with the media in the wee hours of the morning – for live shots. You will be expected to meet deadlines, keep promises and exceed expectations.

St. Luke’s Health Initiatives (SLHI) Communications

Intern Responsibilities
St. Luke’s Health Initiatives www.slhi.org a public foundation focused on improving the health of Arizonans, is looking for a talented individual with experience in communications, marketing and/or event planning to serve as an intern. Interns can begin in the fall of 2014, and would optimally be available through May 2015. This is a paid opportunity ($10/hour). Hours of work are negotiable. The intern would ideally be based in the Phoenix area. Occasional (paid) in-state travel may be required.

The intern will help support the work of the Cover Arizona Coalition in its efforts to foster public awareness, outreach and enrollment assistance efforts aimed at increasing the number of Arizona covered by health insurance through the federal health insurance Marketplace or our state’s Medicaid program (called AHCCCS). The Cover Arizona Coalition is comprised of more than 600 organizations statewide that work together to increase the number of Arizona with health coverage.

Core Responsibilities
•Assist in the development of a media and event plan for the Cover Arizona Coalition for the 2014-2015 year.
•Work with state and federal partners of the Cover Arizona Coalition to organize and promote special events aimed at fostering enrollment in the federal health insurance Marketplace and Medicaid.
•Promote outreach and enrollment events through earned and social media.
•Ensure that a comprehensive listing of events is available through the Cover Arizona website.
•Help develop media talking points for coalition members as needed.
•Help develop a “storybank” of individuals who have benefited from health insurance coverage for media requests.

Fall 2014 Internship- Paid- PR/Marketing Noerr Programs
Intern must be available to work remotely approximately 15 hours per week, after in-person training. Main duties will involve the scheduling, tracking and coordination of media interviews for a national Santa Photo Experience company.

College Times gives interns the opportunity to do a wide variety of reporting, including student and local news, music, movies and events. The Society for American Baseball Research is seeking Fall 2014 interns to work in our office in Phoenix, Arizona.

An internship with SABR will involve responsibilities across a variety of disciplines, possibly including:
•Working on-site at a local SABR conference, such as the SABR Arizona Fall League Conference
•Working with our Membership Director or Director of Operations on organizational duties, membership renewal drives, customer service
•Working with our Web Editor to help publish and/or produce content for our website at SABR.org
Interested candidates should be able to demonstrate basic office-related computer skills. HTML knowledge is a plus.

A working knowledge of baseball — and an awareness of the game’s general history and basic statistics — is required.

He saw the opportunity and spent the next six months conducting research and opened the doors for business in June, 2014. His background is in sales and marketing, and he has an MBA in Entrepreneurship. While in business school, he wrote the business plan for a chain of retail flower stores,( KaBloom!) managed the first store, and single handedly did all the marketing for KaBloom. In the 2 ½ years at KaBloom, they opened 30 retail locations. He sees a similar growth opportunity for AZ Whitening Spa, and plans on opening additional locations within metro Phoenix and then nationally.

The Position- Social/Digital Marketing Coordinator

Volunteer- PR
My name is Ashley Yost and I’m the Communications Team Manager for ASU’s Team in the US Dept. of Energy’s EcoCAR3 competition. This 4 year competition is challenging 16 university teams with modifying a Chevy Camaro to reduce its environmental impact and still be innovative, affordable and attractive to consumers.

The Communication Team’s job includes reaching out to the local press as well as gain a strong connection with the media. Here are the details for the positions:
