Pac-12 Network Guest Speakers
The Pac-12 Network is making some of its announcers available to Cronkite students when the announcers are in town to broadcast a game. This week, Yogi Roth is available to answer questions about a sports broadcasting career.

Dallas Morning News and Chicago Tribune Recruiters At Cronkite School
A recruiter from the Dallas Morning News will be at the Cronkite School to interview interested juniors, seniors and graduate students for paid, FT summer internships.

The interviews will take place in Cronkite #222 on Wednesday October 16 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. If you would like to interview with The Dallas Morning News, please send your resume and clips to cronkitecareerservices@asu.edu by Friday October 11.

Are you a talented communicator with a gift for storytelling? The nonprofit sector is filled with success stories of how programs and services positively impact the lives of people in our community.

Better Business Bureau (BBB) is looking for a student who can capture our nonprofit’s stories to share in various communication materials and platforms. BBB’s internship provides exposure to a dynamic communications team composed
of marketing, advertising and public relations professionals with experience in the nonprofit sector.

Responsibilities
Actions and tasks include but are not limited to:
● Research complaint and industry trends
● Develop press releases and consumer tip articles
● Craft stories into social media messages
● Proofread and edit various communication materials
● Assist in special event planning and execution
● Attend community outreach events

Desired Qualifications
● Pursuing BS/BA in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing or related degree
● Excellent oral and written communication skills a must
● Solid editing skills a must
 Creative story-telling skills
● Experience with social media platforms
● Basic understanding of public relations
● Interest in marketplace issues and ethical business practices
● Proficient in Microsoft Office

Compensation
Minimum stipend of $500 to be awarded upon successful completion of the internship. If applicable, BBB will also provide an evaluation report to the instructor for college credit.

American Copy Editors Society
The deadline is fast approaching for the annual scholarship from the Education Fund of the American Copy Editors Society (ACES). ACES offers five annual cash scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $1,000 to college juniors and seniors committed to copy editing as a career. All five scholarship winners also receive free registration and up to $500 in lodging expenses for the ACES annual conference in Las Vegas, an excellent networking event for students interested in entering the media industry, in March 2014. The deadline is Nov. 15.

Huffington Post Freelance Translators
The Huffington Post is looking for students interested in translating articles for its global news platform. Are you an expert in a foreign language who also loves news and the Internet? Then you might be a perfect fit.

The Huffington Post is seeking people interested in translating articles on a freelance basis, primarily from the following languages: French, Spanish, Italian, German, Portuguese and Japanese. Assignments will vary in length, subject matter and turnaround time, and will be assigned on a rolling basis in accordance with the news cycle.

The ideal applicant will have a flexible schedule and a passion for following the news, and will be comfortable turning around assignments on short deadlines. Assignments are paid at a per-word rate.
