Internship eligibility
Most, if not all, companies require that a student receive course credit for any internship work performed at the company. Please keep in mind that you must first complete JMC 101 (Grammar for Journalists) and JMC 110 (Principles of History of Journalism) to be eligible for MCO 294 internship credit. If you have not completed JMC 101 and JMC 110, you are not eligible for internship credit.

Cronkite-NBC Internship in NYC
The Cronkite – NBC News Internship fall 2012
Spend the semester at NBC News and gain the experience needed to start your journalism career as a Cronkite/NBC News Intern. NBC Universal and The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication now offer two New York internships to work on the network’s top shows for a semester. Applications must be received by July 30, 2012, for the fall 2012 semester, so act now!

Additional Information:
•Placement may be made on any NBC News program.
•Internship is unpaid. Students are required to register the internship for academic credit from Arizona State University prior to starting the assignment. This registration is required to receive the scholarship.
•The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication has scholarships available up to $2000 per student to help defray living costs.

Qualifications:
•Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program at The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication
•18 years or older and successfully completed JMC 301 or JMC 315
•Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher

AFTER CRONKITE
Professionals will give career advice on how to prepare for the job market two times during the spring 2012 semester. The 7-week class is called “AFTER CRONKITE” and will focus on resume and cover letter writing, creating a marketable portfolio, job interviewing, what you should look for in a benefits package, how to read a contract and how to market yourself through your brand. We also discuss salaries for certain markets and certain positions. If you are within one year of graduating, you should consider this course. Only one session is necessary- sign up for the one that fits your schedule.

Overview
The purpose of this position is to assist Carrington Colleges Group, Inc. with marketing materials, campaigns, social media and any other platforms and channels needing assistance with producing written content and other responsibilities. Qualifications

• Ideal candidate is pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism or a related discipline with fundamental knowledge of writing, editing, and interviewing with an eagerness to learn certain areas in marketing.
• Strong written and oral skills, excellent organizational skills, flexibility, able to multi-task, and deliver under times of pressure are required. Reaching deadlines is a must.
• Candidate must have an ability to absorb new concepts quickly and be a team player who is also capable of working independently.
• Working knowledge of MS Office applications is necessary as the applicant will be asked to document and generate copy on all platforms of marketing (Excel, Power Point, etc).
• Previous experience working in an office setting is preferred.

Gordon C. James Public Relations (GCJPR) is a full-service public relations, event management and government affairs agency, celebrating their twentieth year in the industry. Our corporate headquarters is located in Phoenix with an additional office in Washington DC. We represent many local, national and international clients and would be a wonderful environment for an intern gain valuable experience in all aspects of public relations and event management.

Interns are a critical component to our success. Tasks include filing and making deliveries; drafting and following up with press releases; as well as attending client meetings (when possible) and participating in media events. Additionally, interns may be asked to complete other writing projects such as social media posts including blogs, Twitter and Facebook posts for clients.

Our interns must know how to use Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as have excellent skills in utilizing the internet for gathering information. Compensation

Heard Museum – Marketing/Communications Intern

Department: The Marketing/Communications Intern is part of the Communications Department.
Reports to: Senior Communications Manager

Responsible for: Assisting the Communications Department to implement integrated media relations, communications, marketing and advertising strategies for a variety of exhibits, events and focus area projects. Working in a team environment, effectively communicating with target audiences to achieve preset goals for the assigned projects.

Expectations: The Communications Department operates in a strong team environment. It is essential to work closely with the other team members within the department to ensure that the museum’s public image is strong and cohesive, and to avoid competition for coverage within the department. This includes attending regular department meetings, maintaining constant communication regarding the status of your projects and having all media materials proofread by other team members in the department.

As an intern, you will have the opportunity to participate in the following:

Planning – Under the direction of the Senior Communications Manager, work with the Communications Department and other departments to assist with the development of integrated media strategies, budgets, communications messages, marketing programs and advertising campaigns to reach preset goals for the exhibits, events and focus areas.

Media Relations – Write media materials including news releases and calendar announcements for distribution to local and national media. Pitch stories to key media and secure placement in publications that reach targeted audiences, under the direction of the Senior Communications Manager.

Assist with the news clipping function and develop news coverage reports for distribution to the Board and staff. (In coordination with other interns and/or the Phoenix Indian Center’s Workforce Employment Program intern)

Marketing – Assist in the development of collateral materials including visitor flyers, brochures, member invitations, event programs and other promotional materials for the projects assigned.

Editorial Support – Provide editorial support for projects as needed including proofreading media communiqués and collateral materials.

Publications – Write feature stories and other copy for the member newsletter Earth Song, the museum website and e-newsletters to promote the projects assigned.

Web Site – Assist with Web page development including content.
