ESPN recruiters will be at the Cronkite School tomorrow Tuesday, February 7! Learn more about summer internships and careers at ESPN. The ESPN Q/A session will be held in the First Amendment Forum beginning at 6:00 p.m. Tell a friend, a roommate or a classmate. If you’re interested in finding out how to work for ESPN, you need to attend. Open to all ASU students. We need to pack the First Amendment Forum to show ESPN what a great group of students we have!
If you want to participate in any of the internship interview days or if you’re planning to work a summer or fall 2012 internship, you must submit a new application. Please note: starting with all fall 2012 internships, in order to be eligible for JMC 484 level credit, students must have completed JMC 305 (online media) in addition to the other prerequisites as noted on the application.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
This highly competitive program identifies outstanding aspiring journalists who bring diverse backgrounds to news production and news coverage. The program represents NBC’s strong commitment to develop a diverse editorial staff within NBC News. The News Associates program is designed to attract candidates of racial, ethnic, economic and geographical diversity, as well as candidates with disabilities. News Associates gain real-world experience honing research skills, developing news stories working in a news bureau, participating in field and studio show production, on the nightly news, a morning news program, cable news, or on a “magazine” program.
Each News Associate is assigned a mentor who is an experienced staff member. News Associates undergo an intense week long orientation filled with workshops, lunches with guest speakers and training. Over 75 percent of the News Associates who’ve completed the program have gone on to various producing positions with NBC News. Some are currently with “Dateline,” “NBC Nightly News”, “Today” or with MSNBC, CNBC, or our Burbank bureau. The program runs twelve months and consists of several long-term assignments on a news program and/or a news bureau.

Gateway to the East Valley magazine is a joint project of East Valley Partnership and the East Valley Tribune. It is a business/economic development and lifestyle magazine directed towards communities in the East Valley. It is a quarterly publication that promotes the economic development and quality of life of one of the most vibrant growth centers in the U.S. – the East Valley.
This internship offers the opportunity to write and edit, as well as promoting the publication through social media and online branding. The intern will also work closely with the East Valley Partnership, an established partnership of civic, business, educational and political leaders in the East Valley dedicated to the economic development and promotion of the communities, on various projects relating to the work of the Partnership.
Duties include writing feature articles, press releases, maintaining social media and websites, creating PowerPoint presentations, and some clerical responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of tasks and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision. Expert level written and verbal communication skills, strong decision making ability and attention to detail are equally important.

Public relations interns will be actively enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a university public relations, marketing, or other related program. PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The Desert Botanical Garden is a major cultural institution in the Phoenix metropolitan area with a multi-faceted mission: conservation, education, research and exhibition of desert plants. It welcomes 315,000 visitors annually – roughly 50% local and 50% tourists. The Marketing Department is responsible for the Garden’s message in the community and its primary task is to increase admissions, sell tickets for events and communicate with Garden membership. The Marketing Intern works with the Marketing Department to assist with achieving its vision and goals. While this position has specific assigned duties, it will also allow the intern to participate in the planning and execution of the Garden’s marketing strategy to ensure a well-rounded experience.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate in planning meetings for Garden events, exhibits and activities.

Our website (lawyers say we can’t divulge the name yet) is seeking sports writers to cover NFL teams and fantasy football.
Writers who are picked to write for the website will be assigned to a specific NFL. Ideally, each team will have at least one writer who lives in the area of a team and can go to the games, practices and/or other team events. You will be provided credentials and tickets for the games/events. It will be a very hands-on type of coverage for the team that you want to cover.
This is not for everyone. You must be dedicated!
Pay: You will be paid $3.00 per 1,000 unique reads any article you write receives. There will also be bonuses paid to writers for winning various writer competitions.
