Internship Applications
If you want to participate in any of the internship interview days or if you’re planning to work a summer or fall 2012 internship, you must submit a new application. Applications can be found in the student resource center on the second floor of the Cronkite School. Please note: starting with all fall 2012 internships, in order to be eligible for JMC 484 level credit, students must have completed JMC 305 (online media) in addition to the other prerequisites as noted on the application.

Spring 2012- Public Relations/Marketing Internship
McKinnon Dunford Media is looking for 1 or 2 ASU journalism students or graduates to assist with our business video production. We are looking for an individual to get in front of the camera and provide informative reviews pertaining to our client’s products and services to use online and social media. We are looking for a candidate who is creative and outgoing. Our goal is to position the videos as informative and fun, not salesy. This is a paid internship.
Details:
Scope and Responsibilities – Join and participate during the pre-produciontion, creative brainstorming sessions. Work with McKinnon Dunford Media Account Director in scripting the shoot. Rehearse main talking points. Go on location and shoot interview. Interviews will consist of new car model reviews (Volvo, Acura, Subaru, Honda, Hyundai). We are looking for a fun and business casual tone and delivery. The goal is to provide information to consumers and represent our clients in a sophisticated manner, and NOT a sales approach. Videos will be cut to 2-3 minutes, for web use (company blogs, website, Facebook etc.) Spokesperson Intern will also have the opportunity to sit-in during the editing process.

-Understand the video scripting process
-Willingness to participate in creative brainstorming sessions with McKinnon Dunford Media team
-5 to 10 hours a week
Candidate will report directly to McKinnon Dunford Media Account Director. Candidate will be working side-by-side with the McKinnon Dunford Media videographer, who possesses over 11 years experience, including Director of Good Morning New Mexico (NBC Affiliate) and narrative film. Candidate will also be working with other members of the McKinnon Dunford Media staff during brainstorming sessions, pre and post-production.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Associated Press Television-Radio Association (APTRA) presents two $1,500 scholarships each year. The deadline for receiving applications is Feb. 29, 2012. Rules and forms can be found on www.APTRA.org

The APTRA-Clete Roberts Memorial Journalism Scholarship and the Kathryn Dettman Memorial Journalism Scholarship are presented during APTRA’s annual Mark Twain Awards in June.

Scholarship winners must exhibit enthusiasm, aptitude and a sense of commitment for a career in some aspect of broadcast news. Judges will take into consideration a combination of academic achievement, financial need and broadcast career goals that embody the spirit of Clete Roberts and Kathryn Dettman. All candidates must currently be attending a college or university in one of the 12 APTRA states and be involved in some aspect of broadcast news.

Cronkite Scholarships
Each year the Cronkite School awards to its students more than $100,000 in scholarships in amounts ranging from $500 to $5,000. These scholarships are possible because of the generous donations of Cronkite alumni, local media companies and organizations, and other benefactors who want to help worthy Cronkite students complete their educations.
