The interview days for spring 2012 local internships have been scheduled. Please mark these dates on your calendar:

Broadcast: Friday, October 21 8:30 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
Public Relations: Friday, November 4 8:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Print/Digital Journalism: Friday, December 2 8:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.

On these days, 23-35 companies will be on campus to conduct interviews for spring 2012 internships. In order to participate in these interview days, you must submit an application by the deadline of 4:00 p.m. MST on September 30, 2011. Please read and follow the application instructions closely.

The Kaiser Media Internships in Health Reporting
The aim of this specialized internship program is to increase the pool of young journalists committed to reporting on health issues that affect immigrant and diverse communities.

The Kaiser Internship Program provides an initial week-long briefing on health issues and health reporting in Washington, D.C. Interns are then placed for 10 weeks at their news organization, typically under the direction of the Health or Metro Editor/News Director, where they report on health issues. The program ends with a 3-day meeting and site visits in Boston. Interns receive a 12-week stipend and travel expenses. The objective of the internship is to provide young journalists or journalism college graduates with an in-depth introduction to and practical experience on the specialist health beat.

Audiovisual Intern, U-Haul International (Paid)

Writing Intern, Arizona State University (Paid)

The College of Technology & Innovation (CTI) seeks a Writing Intern for the upcoming year to focus on collecting and telling the stories of CTI undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff, as well as community members who are engaged in CTI’s work. The Writing Intern will write press releases, news stories and feature stories, as well as copy for print and web collateral.

Marketing Intern
Desert Botanical Gardens (Unpaid)

The Desert Botanical Garden is a major cultural institution in the Phoenix metropolitan area with a multi-faceted mission: conservation, education, research and exhibition of desert plants.  It welcomes 315,000 visitors annually – roughly 50% local and 50% tourists.  The Marketing Department is responsible for the Garden’s message in the community and its primary task is to increase admissions, sell tickets for events and communicate with Garden membership. The Marketing Intern works with the Marketing Department to assist with achieving its vision and goals.  While this position has specific assigned duties, it will also allow the intern to participate in the planning and execution of the Garden’s marketing strategy to ensure a well-rounded experience.

-Participate in planning meetings for Garden events, exhibits and activities.
-Participate in the marketing department’s strategy planning and execution.
-Working with the print and advertising manager, to submit insertion orders for advertising and maintain the department’s advertising books, matching insertion orders to actual ads.

Magazine Internship
Arizona Restaurant Association (Paid)

Depending on the individual’s interests and expertise, the intern may assist in the following areas toward the production of the Arizona Restaurant Association’s magazine, Arizona Restaurant News:

– Writing small news blurbs, promotional copy, biographical information and, in some cases, articles.
 – Proofread editorial and promotional copy with the assistance of the Editor. 
– Contact contributors to pitch story ideas or ask for articles. 
– Reach out to advertisers with deadlines for artwork to be submitted.
– Upload magazine to the website.
– Set up editorial review boards to plot a direction for the magazine.

Digital Media & PR Internship

Job Summary

Participates in the preparation of game management duties for all athletic programs. 
Official game statistician at athletic contests determined by supervisor (ex: football, men’s and women’s basketball, etc.).
Assists with the input of athletic program statistics to adhere to NJCAA, ACCAC and DAC compliance regulations.
Assists with the maintenance of athletic program inventories. 
Completes laundry duties for athletic programs. 
Monitors locker room supplies and repairs athletic equipment. 
Prepares equipment and supplies for game day activity.
