For freshmen: This is your time to explore options. For Sophomores and Juniors: This is your time to learn about internship availabilities. For seniors: This is your time to ask about jobs, preparing for the workforce and the status of hiring this year.

You do not have to RSVP. Come when you want and leave when you want. Go table to table to find out what internship or job opportunities might be available. You are encouraged to visit for at least 20-30 minutes anytime between 5:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Cronkite Academic Bowl Teams Are Being Formed
Thousands of dollars are up for grabs!

It’s that time of year again. Yes, the beginning of the academic year, but also time to assemble the Cronkite School teams for the 2011 ASU Academic Bowl!

In the Academic Bowl teams from various ASU Colleges and Schools compete against one another head-to-head in battles of knowledge across a variety of subjects. Questions span a variety of topics.

The Cronkite School will have two separate teams of four undergraduate students each. To be eligible, you must be registered for at least 12 credit hours and not be on academic probation. Dr. Joseph Russomanno is the advisor for our teams.

To select the teams, we will administer a qualifying exam to interested candidates. The top eight scores will be chosen, and two alternates. These exams will be administered in the Cronkite Building’s Room 240-A, accessed through the Advising Center. Select the time slot that works for you:

Tues., Aug. 30, 10:30 a.m.
Wed., Aug. 31, 4:00 p.m.
Thurs., Sept. 1, 2:00 p.m.

Ask for Alicia Tang-Mills. She will proctor the exams. You will have 30 minutes to complete the exam.

In order to hold your place for a qualifying exam, please respond directly to Dr. Russomanno by e-mail (russo@asu.edu) by Monday, Aug. 29. Include which exam date you will attend. (If it’s absolutely impossible to attend one of these periods, but you’re still interested in participating, contact Dr. Russomanno.)

Very important: Becoming a team member requires a commitment to attend both the matches and practice sessions. The latter will be held on dates and times that will work with team members’ schedules. Opening round matches will be held Oct. 3 and 4, 4:00-6:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Those matches are in the Memorial Union on the Tempe Campus. The semi-final and final rounds will be held Oct. 6. Those are at KAET in the Cronkite Building.

Photo internship at ASU Media Relations
We are offering an unpaid internship and will take several interns per semester.

Duties would be shooting several assignments a week, depending on the interns schedule and Media Relations needs.
Some night work would be required since we cover sports as well as other events.There will be critique sessions every week, either in person, phone or by email, with the goal to help the interns make better photos.

The primary use of photos will be in the Week in Review photo gallery and our new weekly sports gallery for the Gameday website, but the images will be used for many different purposes throughout the University.

We need photographers who can make interesting photos from visually marginal situations in generally challenging lighting conditions. This would be a good training ground for those interested in news photography.

The staff photographer is a former news shooter and the asu.edu news operation functions much like a newsroom.

RightThisMinute, a new hour-long, weekday news and information show premiering September 12, is looking for interns to work in its newsroom. Fall Public Relations/Marketing Internship

2012 Legislative Broadcast Internship

Arizona Capitol Television is offering several paid internships to qualified college students during the 2012 spring semester – the Second Regular Session of the Fiftieth Arizona State Legislature.

Freelance Videographers & Editors
Elevated Media Partners, LLC is looking for some part-time / freelance job candidates.  We are ASU alumni looking to support fellow ASU students and grads.

Looking for Junior or Senior level student, however all candidates with appropriate experience will be considered.
Must be semi-proficient in Final Cut Pro editing software, and have access to his/her own software. Comfortable in light graphic creation when needed, most projects will simply need clean bottom thirds & logo inclusion. Owning or having access to video hardware a plus. Some camera equipment will be provided on a project to project basis.  Candidate will have an understanding of equipment is appropriate for what project – and comfortable in assisting producers in securing said equipment.

Comfortable in a Director of Photography roll and can work cooperatively with Executive Producers and support crew.
Candidate is comfortable in shooting and editing segments for an array of different projects – all of which fall into a documentary, narrative driven style/format. This means that most, if not all projects, will be driven by interviews. Candidate is able to mic up field interviews and confident in securing quality sound, etc.

Elevated Media Partners, LLC produces everything from marketing videos that live primarily in online environments to commercial segments that can be seen inside national television broadcasts. We are looking for freelance videographers/editors who take pride in their work and want to add to their portfolio by working on a diverse array of projects. This means we might be producing an overview video about a fishing charter down in Cabo San Lucas or filming a behind the scenes ‘brand-underwritten’ segment about PGA Golfers.

Academic Bowl- Got The Brains to Compete?

Thousands of dollars are up for grabs!

We are assembling the Cronkite School teams for the 2011 ASU Academic Bowl!

In the Academic Bowl teams from various ASU Colleges and Schools compete against one another head-to-head in battles of knowledge across a variety of subjects. Questions span a variety of topics.

The Cronkite School will have two separate teams of four undergraduate students each. To be eligible, you must be registered for at least 12 credit hours and not be on academic probation. Dr. Joseph Russomanno is the advisor for our teams.

To select the teams, we will administer a qualifying exam to interested candidates. The top eight scores will be chosen, and two alternates. These exams will be administered in the Cronkite Building’s Room 240-A, accessed through the Advising Center. Select the time slot that works for you:

Tues., Aug. 30, 10:30 a.m.
Wed., Aug. 31, 4:00 p.m.
Thurs., Sept. 1, 2:00 p.m.

Ask for Alicia Tang-Mills. She will proctor the exams. You will have 30 minutes to complete the exam.

In order to hold your place for a qualifying exam, please respond directly to Dr. Russomanno by e-mail (russo@asu.edu) by Monday, Aug. 29. Include which exam date you will attend. (If it’s absolutely impossible to attend one of these periods, but you’re still interested in participating, contact Dr. Russomanno.)

Very important: Becoming a team member requires a commitment to attend both the matches and practice sessions. The latter will be held on dates and times that will work with team members’ schedules. Opening round matches will be held Oct. 3 and 4, 4:00-6:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Those matches are in the Memorial Union on the Tempe Campus. The semi-final and final rounds will be held Oct. 6. Those are at KAET in the Cronkite Building.
