Duties and Responsibilities

The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication is seeking a Communications Program Coordinator to work with the Coordinator, Senior to execute a broad variety of public relations, writing, communications, Web and marketing tasks supporting marketing, public relations, internal and external communications and publications, visibility, branding, special projects, recruitment, retention and related operations for the Cronkite School and its various components.

The communications program coordinator will be part of a team producing frequent, time-sensitive content such as Web updates, press releases, newsletters, brochures, ad copy, reports and an annual alumni magazine, in accordance with AP style. This team sometimes puts in irregular hours and may be asked to work occasional nights and weekends.

– Authoring press releases, feature articles, university communications and collateral, external and internal correspondence, and Web copy;
– Assisting in maintaining Web and social media presence;
– Planning and executing marketing events;
– Meeting with other university stakeholders as necessary;
– Drafting internal and external correspondence;
– Generating reports;
– Coordinating logistics and schedules and assembling materials in the course of regular work;
– Performing other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM, to include some nights and weekends

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or closely related field and one year of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

– One to three years of experience working in journalism or public relations fields.
– Demonstrated experience writing and editing for the Web and print publications.
– Demonstrated experience using multimedia and social media tools as well as updating websites using standard content management systems.
