Spring 2014- Arizona Charter Schools Communications Internship
The intern/part-time employee would be primarily responsible for writing the Association’s weekly and monthly newsletters. The weekly newsletter provides school leaders and teachers with up-to-date information through short and concise briefs, along with links to more information. It is very newsy and always points out how the issue will impact schools/teachers/students etc. Research, writing and communications responsibilities include:
·Attending monthly state policy meetings and providing summary information to members.

·Working with our lobbyist during the legislative session to provide clear updates on bills impacting charter schools.

·Collecting information and researching material for Association weekly and monthly e-newsletters.

Skills: Exceptional writing skills is a must, everything else can be taught.

Time frame: Ideally the internship and/or part-time position would begin on a very limited basis in November and December for training. In January, intern/part-time employee would work closely with the Communications Director to research and create the newsletter, fully taking over the content creation and distribution in February and making it his/her personal project for the rest of the semester.

Hours: Dependent on schedule, but at least 15 hours per week.

NBC Summer Internships
NBC is offering summer 2014 paid internships in New York City and other locations (Washington, DC and Los Angeles). The deadline is coming up soon- December 5.

There are two attachments that you need to read carefully in order to check your eligibility. Both are attached to the EMAIL.

The first attachment called INTERNSHIP 2014 explains the requirements and the online application process that NBC requires. You must apply online with NBC.

The second attachment is the Cronkite School’s NBC application. You must complete the Cronkite School form to be considered. Both applications are due by Thursday December 5.

The Review-Journal in Las Vegas
The 2014 NAHJ-NV/Review-Journal summer internship offers talented aspiring journalists the chance to learn and shine in one of the greatest news towns on earth. Spend a few weeks chasing down the serious and the strange with the RJ’s award-winning breaking news reporters. Then cover world-class dining, entertainment and arts on the features desk. And wrap it up by putting your Spanish to the test on the staff of the RJ’s Spanish-language weekly, El Tiempo. It’s an internship like no other, in a town like no other.

THE JOB

Interested in working with some of the best journalists around? We offer 10 weeks of intensive, hands-on experience in a region where big stories are the norm. We place interns throughout the L.A. Times: Metro, Sports, Business, Features, Arts & Entertainment, Washington bureau, Photography, Design, Graphics and latimes.com. These are paid internships and summer placements usually run from mid-June to late August.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be actively working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree and must be eligible to work in the U.S. Graduates may qualify if you’ve finished school within six months of the start of the internship. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and access to a car in good working condition. Internships are for students who have not worked professionally as staff journalists. Little training is offered, so previous internship experience is preferred.

Summer Ethics Fellowship for Graduate Students Planning Careers in Journalism
FASPE seeks applications for its 2014 journalism fellowships. FASPE Journalism, a component of a larger program that works in several professional fields, use the conduct of reporters and media professionals in Nazi Germany and the Holocaust as a launching point for an intensive course of study on journalism ethics. FASPE is predicated upon the power of place, and in particular the first-hand experience of visiting Auschwitz and trav-eling through Germany and Poland where Fellows study the past and consider how to ap-ply the lessons of history as they confront the ethical challenges of their profession today.
In 2014 FASPE will take a group of 10-15 journalist early in their career and graduate students planning careers as journalists on an all-expenses-paid program from New York to Berlin, Krakow, and Oświęcim (Auschwitz). They will examine such topics as: the relationship between state authority and journalism (including censorship and propagan-da), the ethics of photographing violence, the ethical challenges in reporting human rights abuses, and the role of media in creating and remembering the historical narrative.

The 2014 program will run from Sunday, May 25 to Thursday, June 5. Fellowships cover all program costs, including international and European travel, lodging, and food.
